Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Jeff Garrett in the heart of the bluegrass — Lexington, Kentucky. For nearly a decade, he concurrently operated Mid-American Rare Coin Auctions, which was considered one of the finest auction houses in the nation; the company sold many rare U.S. coin collections until it was sold to Heritage Auctions in the early 1990s.
What started as a two-man operation has grown steadily over the years. Our state-of-the-art facility has top-rated security. Anyone visiting Lexington is urged to make an appointment for a visit.
Trustworthy and knowledgeable about collectible coins, the staff of Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries is second to none. Our in house bookkeeper handles bookkeeping and cataloging duties for our exceptional inventory of coins. He can also be seen with Jeff at major coin shows across the country. Tom Mulvaney, the official photographer of Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries, is considered the best coin photographer in the nation. Tom has worked on numerous numismatic publications and is highly sought after for his photographic skills. Mid-American also employs several support staff for IT and administrative duties. Customer service is a top priority at Mid-American Rare Coin Galleries; our staff is dedicated to serving our customers with promptness and politeness.
Mid-American is proud to have been in the same location for over 30 years. Today we are one of the largest dealers in the nation and maintain one of the finest inventories of U.S. coinage, with an emphasis on quality and value for the grade and price. Mid-American attends every major coin show in the United States, exhibiting prominently at the front of the room with display cases filled with great collectible coins — many of which are rare U.S. coins seldom seen for sale in their grade.
Mid-American is proud of its history and looks forward to many more years of knowledgeable and trustworthy service to our rare coin dealers and collectors.
